The highly anticipated MC Rap Battle at The Jump Off 2014 Finals took place recently and saw Londoner LNC take on Manchester’s Seano Mac. Both rappers being established battlers and competent freestylers set this one up to be somewhat of a classic. The battle got off to a slow start, the crowd not reacting to LNC’s first round as expected, LNC’s punches weren’t really connecting and he stumbled a couple times (getting up on stage too, so maybe he could cut back on drinking before an event lol). Seano Mac came out the blocks with a good flip on a mum joke, unfortunately his mic cutting out a couple times whilst delivering the punchlines, again affecting the crowd reaction. Round two saw LNC step it up further with some more brutal disses and getting his flow together (even the host was heard praising the mc off camera). Seano retaliated with another funny flip and soon delivered what was to be a punishing insult to LNC which had the crowd rapturous in their excitement and swayed the judges (including mobo award winning Grime MC Stormzy) into a decision in Seano’s favor. LNC came back with a flip to Seaono’s Islamic State bar but the damage was ultimately done and in a close battle Seano Mac edged it with a more gung ho, comedically brutal style. LNC remains one of the top battlers in his field, just needs a better start to his battles. Although some thought this battle was not up to previous final standards, it must be remembered that these MCs were mostly spitting entirely freestyled bars, with opening bars from LNC even bringing judges into his lyrics proving as such. Big battle. We would have given it to LNC just, but that line by Seano Mac (you’ll know when you here it lol) was the decisive moment. Very good battle, not great but impressive never the less.
